(b. 1963) is a Berlin and Moscow-based artist, writer, and recipient of the restiguous Andrei Bely Prize.
He was one of the the founding members of the Medical Hermeneutics art group. Leiderman is an artist of personal poetic gestures that can be realized as performances, installations, video, objects, or paintings. Yuri Leiderman had his solo exhibitions held at Le Quartier in Quimper (2004), Musee d’art contemporain, Marseille (2005), he took part in Manifesta 1 (1996, Rotterdam), 11th Sydney Biennial 91998), 50th Venice Biennial (2003), 2nd Moscow Biennial (2007)). In recent years, he has been collaborating with Andrei Silvestrov on the continuing video-project The Birmingham Ornament, which will be shown as a special event of the Horizons program of the 68th Venice Film Festival (2011)
The project is realized as part of the International Cultural Programme of the Polish EU Presidency coordinated by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
