Joanna Mytkowska is a curator and art critic. Since 2007 she has been director of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. She was co-founder of the Foksal Gallery Foundation, where she worked from 2001–2007. Formerly she was a curator at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, where she organized the exhibitions Paweł Althamer (2006), The Magellanic Cloud (2007), and The Anxious (2008). In 2005 she curated the Polish Pavilion at the 51st Venice Biennale, exhibiting Repetition by Artur Żmijewski. She was a co-curator of Promises of the Past, a major survey of Eastern European art at the Centre Pompidou in 2010.
